Sorry for yet another loooooong silence! No worries though, everything's going well at our end. It's just that I've been spending most of my waking hours working on the new book. We will soon be hitting the road again (Woo hoo!) and I'd like for it to be finished before we embrace this next phase. The good news is that the book will be released in electronic format within the next 2 weeks or so. Yippee! It should then be available in soft cover perhaps a couple of weeks later, The Mystery willing.
I'm super thrilled to share my latest creative baby with you all! It's undoubtedly the most comprehensive work I've published thus far. In addition to the recipes, it will contain several sections covering topics such as our approach to changing diet, equipment, ingredients, and basic techniques like sprouting, dehydrating and working with Irish moss. I'll also be walking you through how to prepare various cultured foods and beverages like sauerkraut, fermented nut cheezes, kombucha and rejuvelac.
And for the really exciting part... it will feature 96 of my own recipes, including 44 completely new creations.
How about a little sneak peek to see what I've been up to? What do you say?

I've been quietly following your blog for a couple of years now and finally decided to leave a comment, just to let you know how excited I am for your new book!! I can't wait to purchase it :)
ReplyDeleteI need help! I'm trying to go raw, but I keep craving carbs, grains, potatoes, etc.! I do a green drink in the morning, a salad for lunch, apples for snacks, then at dinner I just fall apart. I try to curb my carb-attacks by eating nuts, but then I eat too many of those, too! Advice, please! I admire you so much, and I'm in love with all of the fun, creative recipes you share. You prove that being raw doesn't mean deprivation! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for sharing my excitement! We're almost done and I CANNOT wait to give birth! ;-)
ReplyDeleteJill,
Sorry to hear that you're having such a difficult time transitioning to raw. My approach is to be very gentle with ourselves, starting from where we are at and taking it one step at a time. In my experience, if you go faster than your mind/body is ready, then you will experience cravings. I like to look at it from the perspective of adding more raw foods in your diet rather than stopping to eat cooked foods. It took us something like 5 or 6 years to transition to a fully raw diet. Plus, to eat 100% raw isn't for everyone, nor is it necessary either in order to reap health benefits. In fact, Don and I have backed off to a high raw diet of about 80% in the last couple of years. Whatever feels right for you is key!
But back to your comment... As you pointed out, raw food is so not about deprivation! I would suggest adding more variety to your diet like crackers, kale chips, granola bars... Fun and tasty snacks that will keep your body and mind interested; just plain fruit and salad can get very boring! If you don't already have one, I would strongly recommend investing in a dehydrator so that it opens up new possibilities in terms of textures, temperatures and flavors.
Hope this helps!
Blessings on your journey,
Carmella
wow! you are so talented! keep sharing your gifts with the world and keeping us all inspired
